Bollywood Profile of AISHWARYA RAI


AISHWARYA RAI was born in Mangalore, Karnataka (India) on 1st November 1973. She was younger of the two siblings, her brother being 3 yrs elder from her named ADITIYA RAI, when she was about 4 years old. Her family moved to Mumbai forever. Her father worked as a merchant navy officer. Her friends also called her as Ash, Aishu, and Gullu. Aishwarya did her schooling from Arya Vidya Mandir, Santacruz. She did very well and became the head girl of her school. She was a science student and completed her graduation from DG Ruparel College, Mumbai. Her favorite subject was Zoology. Aishwarya wanted to complete her degree in medicine, but because of some personal problems she failed to complete her Medical Education. Instead of Medical she had chosen Architecture and passed out the diploma from Raheja College with flying colors. By this time, Aishwarya had started accepting modeling assignments. She then decided to take a break from architecture and concentrate on Modeling. From the point of view towards Modeling she never looked back. Aishwarya became household and to hold her house she got her first add campaign from PEPSI. She was success in her first add and soon got many add from Lux, Pamolive and many more. She was crowned Miss Femina World and went on to win the Miss World title at Sun City in 1994. Aishwarya Rai had now joined the Bollywood film industry and currently working under many prestigious banners. Her looks and talent gave her assurance in wining the beauty pageants but faring equally well in films was a point to be debated from her views. Ash's first film, 'Iruvar' (in Tamil) laid an expensive egg in the south and gave her a good success. Ditto for ‘Aur Pyar Ho Gaya’ and ‘Jeans’ gave her opportunity to enter in Bollywood with a million-dollar face combined with a strong personality and intelligence. She is the actress who is stepping into the Hollywood very soon. In the year 2000 she was awarded Best Actress by Filmfare and Zee Cine for her work in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Blockbuster film” Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam", in that same year, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her special appearance in Aditya Chopra's film “MOHABBATEIN”. This year gave her many title and award such as the title of “ The Most Beautiful Miss World Of All Times”. Most Beautiful titleholder of All Times Gold Medal Winner was also allotted to her. She was also titled as Face of the year by ZEE. In the year 2001 she was nominated for Best Actress by Filmfare Award for Satish Kaushik film "Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai". She also receives an award by BWSX Fantasy for Best Supporting Actress in “Mohabbatein”. Aishwarya star gave her success in the year 2002 when she was again working for Sanjay Leela Bhansali in 'Devdas'. 'Devdas' was the most ambitious and most successful film in Bollywood history. It became the first Bollywood picture broke the box-office records in India and the United States. This picture receives a special screening in the year 2002 by Cannes Film Festival and Daily Variety on 6th December 2002. The year 2003 brought for her more exciting opportunities. Aishwarya became the first Indian actress to be a member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival. She is also the newly member of the elite L'Oreal Dream Team, joining beautiful lady Catherine Deneuve & Andie MacDowell who are the International Ambassador. She also receives an award from Screen Jodi No.1 Award with Shahrukh Khan. She is the lady who give’s grace to the magazines covers such as India Today and the prestigious TIME Magazine. In the year 2004 she had taken her first leading role in her first English film of Gurinder Chadha’s “Bride & Prejudice”. She also became the first Indian female Actress to be immortalized in wax at the world famous Madame Tussaud’s wax museum in London. She also receives an award in 2005 from “ZEE CINE” as “CRITICS Actress” of the year. In the year 2006 she was seen in Mistress of Spices directed by Paul Berges “ Jag Mundhra’s Provoked “and upcoming films like J. P. Dutta’s “ Umrao Jaan”, Sanjay Gadhvi’s “ Dhoom 2”, Ashutosh Gowariker’s “Jodha Akbar”, Mani Ratnam's “Guru”. The Queen of Bollywood is already becoming the talk of tinseltown and is currently in negotiations on two major motion pictures and had made film commitments till the year 2009.
