Bollywood Profile of Sunil Shetty

An actor who needs to piggyback on his director for his performance, Sunil Shetty could have done better in business boardrooms, but anyway, made his tinsel town foray with the completely inconsequential films like Balwan, Gaddar or Prithvi.

His beefcake physique and square jawed face made him a director's ideal choice for an action hero, but his expressionless face gave away the ham actor in him. Yet nothing teaches better than experience.

So after a long barren spell at the box office when around 21 out of his 28 films flopped miserably, Shetty finally salvaged his dwindling career with films like Mohra and Border. Then the resounding success of Priyadarshan's Hera Pheri gave his career a new lease of life while Refugee and Jungle has got him on cloud nine.

One of the promising stars to have hit the silver screen in the last decade Sunil Shetty stays clear of petty politics of the tinsel world and maintains a low profile. For this reason perhaps he has the choicest projects in his kitty despite his innumerable debacles at the box office.

Sunil Shetty is quite well known in Restaurant Business in Mumbai.

Sunil Shetty Hit Films are: Balwan, Anth, Mohra, [Dilwale]], Gopi Kishan, Border, Bhai, Hera pheri, Dhadkan, Jungle, Awara Pagal Deewana, Kaante, Qayamat, Hulchal, Main Hoon na, Dus, Phir Hera Pheri. Bollywood Profile of Nana Patekar

Nana Patekar real name Vishwanath Patekar, Nana Patekar was born 1 January 1951 in Maharashtra. He is an Indian actor and filmmaker.

Like most actors, Nana began his career with Marathi theatre. N. Chandra was so impressed with his intensity in the play 'Purush' that he signed him for 'Ankush', a low- budget movie with unknown faces. The film, however did not help boost Nana's career in any way.

It was with Vinod Chopra's 'Parinda', which earned him the National award, that Nana became a force to reckon with. And with his subsequent films like 'Prahaar', which he directed himself, 'Tiranga', 'Krantiveer' and 'Agni Sakshi', he established himself as one the most talented actors.

Nana is known to be brusque and arrogant. It is rumored that producers are wary of signing him for their films because of his reputation of being arrogant, hot-headed and a difficult star to work with. "I am more important to myself," Nana says. "If I'm not happy about something I will not do it. And I am very honest and frank and most of the people in the industry cannot digest that fact. Besides, it is me who has been refusing films. And that is because I sign a film only if I like the script."

Unlike many, Nana detests the idea of doing more than two to three films at a time. "It amazes me how people can switch on and off within seconds. I have to be involved with a film. Anyway, what am I going to get after doing so many films? Money? I don't give much importance to money anyway."

This seems a little contradictory since Nana is said to have hiked his fee after every film. "But I still maintain that money is not important to me at all. But tell me why shouldn't I hike my price. Today, people are approaching me because I am successful. If the producers are selling a film on my name, shouldn't I get my share from them?" he reasons. "But when I demand my price, I also indulge in a lot of social and charity work with the money."

Which is a fact no one can deny. On one of his visits to his village, he had seen an ancient, dilapidated ruin, which he learnt was the burial place of Eshwari bai, who played a very important historical role in the Peshwa period. Nana immediately called for a meeting in the village and drew out a plan and an estimate of how much money would be required to restore the monument. He did Shows and the money that was raked in, was directed there. On another occasion, there was a certain hotel group that needed Nana to inaugurate a hotel. Nana demanded a lakh of rupees. Initially they refused and went away. Later they agreed and the cheque that was given to Nana was handed over to an institution for the handicapped on the spot.

Patekar has also done some playback singing in the films Yeshwant (1997), Wajood (1998) and Aanch (2003).

He is the only actor ever to win Filmfare Awards in the Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Villain categories.

Bollywood Profile of Soha Ali Khan

Soha Ali Khan was born on October 4, 1978 in New Delhi, India, into the family of the nawabs of Pataudi. She studied History at Balliol College, Oxford University and has a Masters in International Relations from the London School of Economics. Soha Ali Khan's mom, dad and brother are superfamous celebrities. She's the daughter of "Sharmila Tagore" famous hindi actress of 60's and 70's and "Tiger Pataudi" well known Indian cricketer. And Saif Ali Khan's sister. And now it's time for this talented and stunning girl to make a mark.

Soha made her acting debut with the Bollywood production Dil Maange More, where she shared credits with Shahid Kapoor and two other leading ladies. Starting off weakly, she has since received critical acclaim for her performances in the Bengali film Antar Mahal and Rang De Basanti. She has been brought up in liberal way, where ever to travel, think and have friends she wants. She was quite a hyperactive child. Very friendly and outgoing always running from one place to another. But never bothered about appearances. She didn't wear too much jewellery nor was colour coordinated.

Soha Ali Khan, however, wants things to be different. She prefers staying alone in Mumbai, managing her own affairs. Her first steps into the film industry are behind her, but she knows she has a long way to go. The actress spoke to Syed Firdaus Ashraf about the release of her latest Bengali film, Antarmahal and a few other issues.

When Soha Ali Khan lights up the marquee, her mother's famed dimples et al, the world will inevitably watch out for the Tagore talent to unfold. And should Sharmila's legacy to Soha include some of that legendary screen sparkle, then Soha's got little to worry about. Soha's just starting out on the road her mother has made her own.

While studying she know exactly that she wanted to be in films in terms of career. She know if started acting before accomplishing her academy, then it wouldn't be possible for her to go back to studying. Her parents had the typical normal parental concerns about joining the films. He initially wanted to marry actress Neelam with whom he had made many films but she rejected his proposal. He married Sunita Govind Ahuja on 11 March 1987 and has two children with her.

POLITICAL CAREER :

In 2004, Govinda joined the Congress party, and was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower House of Parliament from Mumbai with a thumping majority of beating the 5 time sitting MP by over 50000 votes.

In a run up to the polls, Govinda had announced that his agenda will be awaas (housing), prawaas (transportation), swasthya (health) and gyaan (education).

During the first ten months of his tenure as an Member of Parliament (MP), Govinda did not spend any money from his MP Local Area Development Fund of Rs. 20 million. He started utilizing his fund only when newspaper reports brought this to notice. According to the Thane district collectorate sources, Govinda committed Rs 7 to construct anganwadi, samaj mandirs and resolve drinking water problem of Vasai and Virar residents. However, work on these projects did not begin (as of August 2005), because administrative approval was being awaited. Govinda also took credit for 80% of the quadrupling of Borivli-Virar section on Western Railway (India).

His maiden speech in the Parliament, made during "zero hour", had to be stopped by the speaker, after he started ranting problems in North Mumbai.

As an MP, Govinda has been criticized for being inaccessible to the people of his constituency, especially during the terrible rains (beginning July 26, 2005) that left around 450 dead in Mumbai. After the rains, while speaking to a TV channel, Govinda claimed that he had got Rs 150 million sanctioned for his flood-hit constituency after speaking to Sonia Gandhi. Bollywood Profile of Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar, who is originally called Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia, is born on 7 Sep. His family consists of his dad, mom and one sis and he is called RAJ at home and AKKI by his close mates. Though his filmi career is not upto the mark, he is widely known as Khiladi Kmar in the Bollywood for the kind of man that he is, for his life style, for his affairs with a lot of career girls almost in a way to break up in the end. His success is the result of a combination of factors, but emoting in front of the camera isn't one of them. What is unusual about Akshay Kumar is that, unlike many other stars, he was not launched by a godfather, nor did he come from a film family. His entry into films was through the back door, through B-grade and C-grade films that were flooding the industry at that time. His first film, 'Saugandh' was with the not-so-hot south siren, Shanti Priya. Fortunately for the hero, who was considered to be a bad actor, he survived the test because of his dances and his stunts.

Akshay Kumar had set his sight on the big bad world of films while still in college. In the meantime, Akshay moved to Bangkok and ran a food stall for a while. He came back to Bombay at the turn of the decade and finally got his first film with Raj Sippy's 'Sangharsh (1991). He studied martial arts in Hong Kong and was sometimes referred to as the "Bruce Lee of India".
Although he perfectly knows for himself that he is not a great actor which he once confessed to the world. And may be that's why he wants to get the attention of the world in the other way. But AKSHAY KHILADI KUMAR has 55 films in his bag to date and has had sort of a relation with all the heroines cast opposite him thus establishing the phenomenon that his every fifth movie is worth either named or having a tag - KHILADI.

At 6'1", he looks handsome and keeps himself fit with a healthy stature but apart from his so called incapabilities in acting, he strives much harder in order to prove his mettle through a lot of hard work and determination. He rather seems to be lot more career - - oriented than the rest of the stars, the cause behind the effect being his flops at the box office.
His first love was, is and will always be martial arts. And through his films, he hopes to promote the art and is also contemplating a school for martial arts training. "I am so busy these days, I don't have time to teach martial arts but in another two to three years' time, I will open a martial arts school where I will teach people what I learnt in Thailand," he says determinedly.
He hurt his back while lifting a 350-pound wrestler (Brian Lee, known in the movie as The Undertaker), in the film Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi.

He is a big fan of Chinese martial artist and film star Jackie Chan.

Akshay Kumar is the first Indian actor to have been given a four-film-deal with Adlabs company.
His first big hits were mostly action films such as the Khiladi series, Mohra (1994) etc. He has also had success in romantic movies such as Yeh Dillagi (1994), Dhadkan (2000) and Andaaz (2003) .

In 2000 he starred in the comedy film Hera Pheri which was a huge hit. After that he did many successful comedies which include Awara Paagal Deewana (2002), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and Garam Masala (2005).

Apart from his action and comedy roles he has done various dramatic roles in films such as Ek Rishta (2001), Bewafaa (2005) and Waqt: The Race Against Time (2005).

Most recently in June 2006, his release was Phir Hera Pheri, the sequel to Hera Pheri (2000) which has also been very successful at the box office.

In October 2006 his big release was Jaan-E-Mann which has not done as well as expected at the box office but he has got positive reviews from critics for his performance.

He is also in the television ad for the Xbox 360 in India with Yuvraj Singh.

He has been romantically linked to a few of his female co-stars, including Pooja Batra, Raveena Tandon, Rekha, Shilpa Shetty, Priyanka Chopra, and most recently Lara Dutta who is his female co-star in his upcoming film Bhagam Bhag. After being engaged to actress Twinkle Khanna, the daughter of veteran actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, they finally married in January 14, 2001. Their son named Araav was born in September 15, 2002.

Bollywood Profile of Jiah Khan

Jiah Khan was born in the year 1988 February 20 in New York and brought up in London. She has been brought up single-handedly by her actress mother Rabia, who is originally from Lucknow.

There have also been rumours that Jiah Khan is the daughter of filmmaker Tahir Hussain, which makes her Aamir Khan's stepsister. Tahir Hussain does not deny that he shares a close friendship with Jiah's mother. "Rabiya is married to a man from Pakistan. She is a very close friend of mine, but I was never married to her. Jiah is not my daughter," he says. Jiah, on her part, was terribly upset when questioned about her parentage and she is making no bones about her resentment as being referred to as Aamir's step-sister.
The industry is all abuzz and talking about the eighteen-year old bubbling Jiah Khan who is making a debut with none other than Amitabh Bachchan in Ram Gopal Varma's 'Nishabd'.

Besides acting, Jiah has a passion for singing and has had formal training in classical opera. She knows as many as five different forms of dancing. Even as a 16-yr-old girl, Jiah began dabbling with music and almost came to the point of releasing an album. She knows how to play the piano and she recorded six pop numbers before she ran out of finance. Not just this, Jiah has been consistently learning different styles of dancing for the last nine years. Today she knows belly dancing, salsa, lambada, samba and Kathak.

But acting, Jiah insists, is her first love. Jiah says that she always knew in her mind that she would be an actress someday. She had been trying to get her foot in the Bollywood door for quite some years.

Initially, she was almost finalized for a Mahesh Bhatt film, but was replaced at the eleventh hour. Jiah was Mahesh Bhatt's first choice for 'Tumsa Nahin Dekha', which was eventually done by Dia Mirza. At that time, she had a brief relationship with Emraan Hashmi.

Bhatt is believed to have discovered Jiah when he was invited to tea in London by her mother. Bhatt is quoted as saying of Jiah, "She has real talent and a powerful screen presence. She is quick to learn and she's not just flirting with a career in the movies. She wants to make it to the top of the heap."

Talikng of Nishabd, Jiah got her lucky break with getting to work with Amitabh.

The film, not based on Vladimir Nabokov’s novel Lolita, has Jiah playing a girl of her own age. She falls in love with a much older man (Amitabh Bachchan). The movie’s shooting was recently completed in a very fast 20-day schedule, although Jiah wished it could have gone forever. She is back in London now. Explaining that her London teachers have been very supportive, she says, "They think the whole thing is amazing and some think it is quite funny. They have been supportive. I am taking A-levels in film studies and literature, so this experience will help a lot. My English literature teacher told me he always thought I would end up going into a Bollywood film.

For the time being, Jiah is biding her time as she cannot sign any new film until the release of Nishabd . In this period she plans to release a music album, an experimental fusion of pop and lounge music. Anyways, Welcome to Bollywood, Jiah.

Jiah Khan reveals the secret behind her sexuality.

The young and dynamic girl and perhaps the one of the most fortunate newcomers in Bollywood (because she has made her debut against the ace star of Hindi cinema, Mr. Amitabh Bacchhan), Jiah Khan reveals the media that what controls her sexuality. Jiah’s sensual acts in her movie ‘Nishabd’ have already created a great impact on the mind of viewers. She seems immensely sexy and seducing in Ramu’s new venture.

When Jiah was asked that what governs her sex appeal, Jiah gave a very unusual reply. She said that she is carried away by ‘sexual jewelry’. It is that wich makes her appear hot and sensational. In the movie Jiah is throughout wearing a long and loose chain in her neck. This chain caused a lot of problems to her but at no cost Jiah was ready to take it off from her neck. In response to question about the secret of the loose chain hanging in the neck, Jiah said "I call this chain' a sexual jewelry'. I do not separate it from me even for a single second. It actually controls my sexuality." Controls sexuality? Isn't it strange that a piece of jewelry works on her sexuality?

"Believe me. It keeps me in touch with the spiritual world also. This chain truly holds significance for me," said Jiah. She added that "In a way, it's a guide of my sexuality and spirituality. I like it when it hangs around my and rolls over my breasts. It touches my back and sometimes waist also."

However when Jiah was asked at for how long would she want to continue with that troublesome ornament in her neck, she replied, “I need this chain at this stage. But I have decided that once I grow mature, I'll get rid of it. May be at the age of 21 or 22. In fact my mother says that once I grow up I won't need it. I will be ready to face the world at the age of 21 or 22 so I have to wear it till then."
