Bollywood Profile of

No one in ordinary list expect the past of an upcoming actor but they will be eager to know how the actor will perform in his future acting career. Same as in the life of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, who came on screen tied in the misty of anonymity. He felt little bit embarrassing and was also laughed by others because of his tall and gawky structures. Mr. Bachchan was also known as ‘LAMBOO’. Though after not getting chance in both the fields of world, he didn’t give up his hope and effort of trying and that was the day of grateful for the entire Film Industry. He was also rejected from the All India Radio (AIR) as a announcer because his voice and the of speaking style was not as much effective as needed in AIR. He was turned down from the job of junior executive in Soap and Consumer Ltd in Delhi. After this incident he joined the Young Hopefuls in trams; wearing the same dress of anonymous executives in Calcutta. He also worked as a shipping agent for a short period of time and left out because of the continuous habits of drinking beer and doing not anything much made him to quit his job there. He had slept one night at the Marine Drive Beach, as had no wear to go and top of that he was unemployed too. As a fresher in the Film Industry, Amitji was made to wait on the sets for long hours of time and was ignored without any encouragement. Though Amitabh Bachchan has a good family background, then too he never used out any of his family helps but took inspirations. No one dare to think that the new-walker into the film industry with extra long legs soon became the Backbone of the film Industry that would sort-out the entire group of the Co-stars.

Director K. A. Abbas launched him in the film Saat Hindustani that went unnoticed by any one in the film Industry. But Prakash Mehra signed him for Zanjeer, which proved lucky for him and also worked out as an extraordinarily well for the young star and after that he never looked back. This versatile actor had also done play backing in most of his films. He also met with a serious accident on the movie sets of Coolie. This accident had also proved that he doesn’t have his fans in hundreds but in lakhs, the entire nation had prayed for his health and the prayers turned into a blessing for Amitji and as he returned to the scene with double the impact. It was Romantic moment for Amitji and his love at first sight for Jaya Bhaduri the famous Guddi girl who turned into Jaya Bachchan. He had a great Family and an excellent career which helped ‘Big B’ in establishing his company ABCL which helped a lot in releasing many controversial films like Mani Ratnam's Bombay and Shekhar Kapoor's Bandit Queen and Joy Augustine's Tere Mere Sapne and Sachin's Naam Kya Hai Commercial film's which was produced under the same banner. Among this he had some of the albums like Eer Bhir Phatte and Kabhi Kabhi, which was released by ABCL Company.

LIFE AS IN POLITICS

Amitji had retired from the Bollywood Acting world for a period of time. He then tried his luck in Politics. His enormous popularity brought him in a close relation with Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. He was also elected to parliament with a huge majority from his homeland city, Allahabad. But his position in politics did not last long and was not very effective as his colleague was implicated with some scandals. He lost his hope and gave up his seat in parliament, deciding never to get involved in political affairs again. And then he made a comeback to the commercial world of cinema but he failed to have the impact, which he had in previous years. However, he continued with his extraordinary public presence in India cinema. With the help of Satyajit Roy, Amitji started providing narration for films and cultural programs too. And such he owned his own ABCL Company, which was represented as AMITABH BACHCHAN CO-CORPORATION LIMITED. This company heads an entertainment company or a sponsor company, which became a principal sponsor of the Miss Universe Contest in 1996, held in Bangalore.

AWARDS AND HONOURS

Amitabh Bachchan was voted for continuous two years in the category of hottest male by PETA. He was also awarded as the Superstar of the Millennium replacing Sir Lawrence Olivier and Charlie Chaplin on a BBC Online Poll. Mr. Bachchan had achieved the National Award three times. He received a New-Comer Award in 1970s for his debut film Saat Hindustani and then for Agneepath in 1991 and then finally for Black in 2006 in the category of Best Actor. In between he was awarded many of the Critics Awards and 14th times in Filmfare Awards in various categories. Mr. Bachchan had been honoured the PADMA SHRI Award in 1983 and the PADMA BHUSHAN Award in 2005 from the government for his tremendous efforts during his lifetime. Recently in the Filmfare Awards of the year 2006, he was awarded as the Best Actor for the film Black. His most recognizable and remember able Film fare Award he feels was when he was awarded the Star of the 20th Century Award in which he and Dilip Kumar were only the one stars who had won the Best Actor awards in three separate decades. Mr. Bachchan is the only the Bollywood Actor, whose name is listed and dominated by Hollywood Actors. He is only the first Bollywood Actor, whose immortalized has been potrayed in wax at Madame Tussands Wax Museum in London.
